Snake Head

This large snake head still has some of its original coloring. The red seems to have had the most lasting effect, where there is still orange, white, and possibly blue and black that have mostly faded away. This head sits at the top of some steps leading further onto the Templo Mayor pyramid.

Snake River Falls loading platform at Cedar Point Ohio

Snake river falls loading platform. Taken on 5-30-09
The cure for those hot summer days! Snake River Falls is an 82-foot-tall water flume ride that features one gigantic tidal wave of fun. Located along the Frontier Trail near the Cedar Creek Mine Ride, this wet and wild boat ride takes its passengers on a meandering journey until it reaches the edge of the first hill. The boat then plummets down at an amazing 50-degree angle in 1.3 seconds, creating a 1,600-square-foot wave that soaks riders and onlookers standing on a bridge built directly over the splash landing zone.
Nearly 10 million guests have "cooled off" on this popular summertime attraction since it opened in 1993. -cedarpoint.com

Common Coral Snake

Common Coral Snake (Micrurus cinicinalis), encountered today in my back garden, and duly killed by the gardener. The attractive Corals are one of four venemous snakes found in Trinidad and Tobago.

Snake in the Grass

Awesome snake I saw in the herb garden at the National Arboretum today. I followed him around for ten minutes or so until he finally went on his way. Does anyone know what species this guy is?

Snake River Canyon. (Hell’s Canyon.)

Snake River Canyon it’s true, but this is actually Hell’s Canyon, the deepest part. In fact, it is the deepest river gorge in the US, at 7,993 feet. From rim to rim, from Oregon to Idaho, it is ten miles across. And it is amazing.
Chez and I spent the night in Joseph, in north-eastern Oregon, and drove to Hell’s Canyon the next morning. This photo is of the dammed Snake River, at the bottom of the canyon. Another great road trip day.

Jodhpur – Snake on road 3

A large snake we saw on the side of the road between Jodhpur and Udaipur. It had been hit by something (probably a car), so it was twisting in pain. Didn’t really feel like going close and ending it’s misery, though. Anybody knows what species this is?
